A little further west of Kilcoy lies the BVRT township of Linville. Multiple routes are possible to get to Linville, which will allow great flexibility of starting points. Once at Linville, there are fewer options. The most likely route to Jimna is along Monsildale Creek, using the same trail as the BRISDIVIDE event.
(Note: Monsildale Creek Rd is also referred to as Linville & Louisavale Rds at either end on some mapping sites)
Monsildale Creek Road is well signed where it turns off Mt Stanley Road a handful of kilometres north of Linville. There is a No Through Road sign here at the very beginning which can be ignored. This road is a 20km long connection that runs across to Monsildale Rd at its eastern end. (Note the very minor name difference between the two) Monsildale CREEK Rd turns to dirt soon after the initial turn off, just after crossing the Brisbane River causeway, and continues on to the first of a series of gates. After about 5.5km, from the original turn off, the road forks, the left track heads into private property (no entry), so stick to the road continuing to the right. The next 9km contains another 6 gates and a number of water crossings before passing a farmhouse. Stick to the track and give livestock plenty of space (and keep the farmers happy) At this end, the road is referred to as Louisavale Road and continues to a T-junction with Monsildale Road. Turn left to head to Jimna, as a right turn will send you towards Kilcoy. The mostly flat Monsildale Rd continues through open farmland heading towards the base of the Monsildale climb to Jimna. This climb is approximately 8km long (on Strava) with varying gradients. Expect ~45mins to reach the top, depending on how many times you stop to enjoy the view. From the top you’ll enjoy a short roll along the ridge, past the iconic fire tower, to Jimna Base Camp. Be sure to restock on water at Linville for the ~50km ride to Jimna. Be aware there is far less shade along this route compared
to other access roads to Jimna.
